N91 Hosts Local Congressman Deluzio
On February 22nd, Congressman Chris Deluzio of Pennsylvania’s 17th District made a visit to Neighborhood 91 to see the vision and opportunity that the AM-focused campus presents. During his visit, Congressman Deluzio toured each of the tenants’ spaces and was briefed on their capabilities and the cohesive nature of the Neighborhood. He spoke to the importance of the present initiatives to the U.S. Industrial Base and how they promote supply chain resiliency for both commercial and defense applications. The Congressman was also briefed on the Resilient Manufacturing Ecosystem (RME) that is currently being administered by the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment. Technologies at N91, such as HAMR’s CSAM system, demonstrated that AM can provide solutions where the US has lost capacity or responsiveness by replacing castings and forgings or enabling new and novel fabrication approaches. These manufacturing capabilities will be leveraged in the RME program to improve the domestic supply chain resiliency and responsiveness. In addition, the campuses efforts on cybersecurity and workforce development were highlighted as not only value added to the DoD, but to the local community. After his visit, he reported the following:
As a former U.S. Navy Officer where he was deployed to Iraq from 2006 to 2012, Congressman Deluzio has a personal understanding for the needs of our warfighters. He is currently seated on the Veterans Affairs and Armed Services committees, with seats on the Seapower and Projection Forces, and Cyber, Information Technology, and Innovation subcommittees. His Naval background and current work on VA and Armed Service Committees provide a key understanding of the need for a more robust DoD supply chain and the value of his district housing a vertically integrated AM community. At HAMR, we look forward to leveraging our skills and capabilities to sustain and empower our DoD and industry while growing and providing high paying jobs in the greater Pittsburgh region.
